I love teaching math and am familiar with a variety of math curriculums and interventions. My understanding spans grade levels from kindergarten through 8th grade. I use a wide variety of teaching techniques to help students develop a deep understanding of the material. I help students preview upcoming material and offer targeted re-teaching of essential concepts to ensure mastery. Games, hands-on activities, and real-world applications are incorporated into my sessions so that students have the opportunity to build their number sense, fact fluency, and flexibility. This interactive and fun approach facilitates effective learning and cultivates a positive attitude towards math.

Reading fluency and comprehension are intricately connected skills. My Orton-Gillingham based approach serves as a guiding light, empowering students to decode words with both effectiveness and efficiency. I illuminate the path to crafting a deeper understanding and extracting meaning from the text. Explicitly, I teach students comprehension strategies that help students understand and synthesize the content as they read.

Reading is a complex and multifaceted process. I employ direct and multi-sensory teaching methods to present the skills of segmenting words and syllables into sound units. These strategies become valuable tools applicable at any age and for decoding words of any length. Furthermore, I introduce students to the structures and tools required for understanding intricate elements such as plot, character, and conflict in complex and meaningful texts.

Navigating the complexities of written expression can be a daunting endeavor for young learners. My role is to equip them with tools that facilitate organizing thoughts and guiding word choices, ensuring comprehensive responses to questions. I emphasize the importance of using evidence from texts to substantiate their answers and model effective writing techniques from established authors. I help students use structured tools to evaluate and clearly understand writing prompts, form coherent opinions or arguments, and present ideas with grammatical clarity.

Breaking down this intricate process into manageable steps, I employ direct instruction and extensive practice, providing personalized support to help each child find their unique voice. I aim to cultivate confidence, foster a sense of empowerment, and create a supportive environment where taking creative risks is encouraged. Through this collaborative experience, we transform the writing journey into a fun and enriching endeavor, enabling students to express their wonderful ideas on paper and share them with others.

I collaborate with students across various content areas, including Science, Social Studies, Theology, Speech, and even Yearbook! I help them navigate complex texts through effective annotation, note-taking, and further research. As a learning partner working alongside students support is provided for studying for tests, crafting content papers, essays, and short responses, as well as building presentations. I assist students in organizing their thoughts, editing, and revising, and try to help each of my students find joy in their learning and create a fun, supportive experience. 

Developing robust study skills and honing executive functioning abilities are vital for achieving academic success. Difficulties in these areas can impact crucial aspects like planning, organization, task initiation, and emotional regulation. While executive functioning skills naturally progress during childhood and adolescence, they remain flexible and open to improvement. I offer expertise to enhance these skills, seamlessly integrating effective strategies into students' daily academic endeavors.

I understand the unique needs of students grappling with challenges such as ADHD and dyslexia. By establishing a supportive and tailored learning environment, I empower students to navigate and conquer executive functioning obstacles while enhancing their study skills. From organizing completed assignments to crafting timelines for task completion, I assist in planning, studying for tests, and outlining to-do lists for papers and presentations. Together, we create study tools like flashcards, notes, rewriting annotations, and organized class notes, ensuring a holistic and personalized approach to academic success.
